Lia felt like collapsing right in the lobby when she got back to the apartment building after a long day at the restaurant. Nothing but parents and their children all day because of the 'Kids Eat Free' special they had today. Lia swore to never volunteer for shifts on Mondays ever again, if she could avoid it.
Her ear buds blasted the familiar voice of Tyronic, one of her favourite video gamers, which was probably the only thing keeping her from falling asleep as she slowly walked towards the elevator... which was closing it's doors - shit.
"HOLD THE DOORS!" she yelled as she sprinted towards the doors.
Apparently though, she was a lot closer than she felt and made it between the metal doors with ease, but in the process dropped her phone, and being the genius she was grabbed it by the wire of her ear buds. Which promptly popped out of the socket and forced her to make a quick grab for her phone before it hit the ground.
Luckily, she caught it before it hit the ground and was undamaged. However, the cost of it was that Tyronic's voice was blasting through the elevator, and Lia had never felt more embarassed in her life.
"S-sorry..." she mumbles as she fumbles around with her phone and her ear buds plug.

How did people do this every day? Rylan supposed he was just starting to get spoiled, having gotten used to not needing to go out and buy things when he could just as easily have them shipped to the apartments. It certainly suited his antisocial self but unfortunately for him, there was a misunderstanding at the electronics store and after waiting nearly a week for a package to arrive, they'd called up and asked if he could pick up his order. He sighed at the thought as he carried the cardboard box into the lobby and towards the elevator (his nemesis!). There was no way in hell he was carrying it up the stairs. After calling the death box down, Rylan stepped into the small, almost claustrophobic room, fortunate to find that no one was already in there and no one besides him would be going up. Made the whole situation far more easier as far as he was concerned. No awkward silence, no cramped spaces. Perhaps things were starting to look up for him! "HOLD THE DOORS!" And there it goes. Rylan could have easily pretended he didn't hear and subtly frantically pushed the buttons to close the doors faster, but he just couldn't do it. He wasn't that much of an asshole. Besides, it was best not to make enemies if you happen to live in the same building, right? Right. So he moved to hold the doors open while simultaneously keeping the package steady in his other hand. Though really, it was unnecessary as the doors weren't even about to close by time the girl had scrambled in there, though not without nearly losing her phone. Wait. Was that his voice? Ry's eyes widened ever so slightly at the realization, feeling a mixture of flattery and embarrassment, the latter the woman seemed to share. He averted his eyes elsewhere, trying to pretend he hadn't noticed which wasn't exactly working too well. He did notice her apology though and shook it off. "No..! It's fine." he chuckled, offering a sheepish smile. Shit. She watched his stuff? He still had a hard time processing how so many people liked his videos, let alone a viewer living in the same apartment as him. It was kind of scary, actually. "Are you okay?" he decided to ask after a moment of hesitation as he watched try to get her bearings. LAIKA OF GS!

It takes a moment for Lia to get herself back together. She plugs her ear-buds back into her phone to start, and then tucks the electronic device back into her pocket. She makes sure it's safely tucked away before she pulls out one of her ear-buds, the one closer to the man with the box. She's learned it's common courtesy - or something like that - when you're in a small space with another person. They may say something to you after all, small talk is an important part of daily life. When he asks her if she's okay, she forces a laugh that comes out rather awkward.
"Um yeah, I guess yeah. A little embarrassed but, physically I'm alright. Thanks for asking," she says before smiling at him. He's nice, she assumes before turning to look at the buttons to send the elevator up to the floor she needs to go too. Then she notes that the floor she needs to go has already been pushed, and she raises an eyebrow before glancing at the man with the box once again.
"Did you push floor four," she asks.

There was a tiny bit of relief felt when the girl assured him (sort of) that she was alright, just embarrassed. He wasn't exactly sure why he was relieved, but he wouldn't question it. At least not right now since the doors had closed and he was practically trapped in here till he reached his floor. Best to not appear too suspicious. Last thing he needed was her potentially recognizing him. Though talking probably wasn't helping much, but it wasn't as if he could simply go mute now. Well.. He could. But again, he wasn't that much of an ass. "Don't worry about it." he offered for both the admission and thanks. She really didn't need to be embarrassed, he was plenty on his own. The thanks on the other hand was simply unnecessary in his mind. He just wanted to be sure she was okay and that he wouldn't feel guilty about it later. First viewer you meet and she practically trips into your elevator. Not exactly the ideal meet up but then again, meeting in the first place wasn't exactly ideal either. He shrugged it off though, adjusting the box in his arms. Less he thought about it, the less he'd have to worry, right? If only it were that easy. But he tried, if only to calm himself down enough. He was probably worrying over nothing. When asked about the fourth floor, Rylan almost forgot what on earth she was talking about, taking a second to untie his tongue and nodding in the meantime. Oh no.. "Yeah." he laughed awkwardly. "Take it you're headed there yourself?" he questioned though felt like he already knew the answer. Next thing he'll find out is that she's his neighbor. God forbid! In that case his identity was probably set in stone as he'd caught himself getting loud occasionally. It just reminded him that he really needed to try and sound proof his set. Lia nods with a smile, "Yeah, room fourty-one to be exact. I've never seen you around though, what room are you in?"
Or, Lia doesn't believe she's seen him around. When she looks at him, she tries to put a name to a face, but draws nothing but blanks. Which is rather surprising and unsurprising as she doesn't know many people in the building, but at the same time they're on the same floor, - or she assumes at least - which means they have a higher chance of meeting each other.
"Oh yeah, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Lia, just Lia though, it's not short for anything," she says.
RYLAN HUBAND, i'm sorry.

Why was he not surprised? It was a small world after all. Far too small. She lived across from him. You'd think this would be something he'd have been aware of. Then again, he didn't go outside his apartment all that much, so he supposed missing her was understandable to an extent. Fortunately for him, that just proved he wasn't too loud to catch the attention of a potential viewer. Or that she just didn't give a shit. Either way, it made him feel somewhat relieved though also a bit reluctant to actually reveal which room he was in. It wasn't as if it was avoidable though, as she'd see him enter anyway. So with a bit of reluctance he answered "Room fourty-two." He didn't sound as surprised as he should have. Then again, the surprise was sort of outweighed by how bizarre it was. Just his luck, right? Well so long as he doesn't make it too obvious, he shouldn't have anything to worry about. After all, she hasn't seemed to gotten the idea yet. She'd then introduce herself as Lia, a name he surprisingly hadn't heard before, despite it's simplicity. Or perhaps he'd never heard of it as anything but a nickname. Either way, it was easy enough to remember and Ry kept it in case it could be useful later. But now was his turn to introduce himself, wasn't it? Common courtesy and what not. He was a little rusty, but he knew that much. "I'm Rylan." he offered, fortunate the box was an excuse so he didn't have to shake her hand. Or was that something only guys did? He clearly didn't socialize all that much (at all). "Nice to meet you, Lia." he offered with a smile. He kind of wished it was on different terms, and that he wasn't worried about his secret identity getting out, but it was nice. Sort of. She wasn't a bad person by any means, he just didn't do this whole socializing thing. He preferred keeping to his lonesome, but situations like these (though awkward) weren't too bad. Though he was honestly looking forward to getting into his apartment and completely separating himself from the world for today. The elevator almost seemed to be taking forever though. Time always seemed to slow down when you didn't want it to. LAIKA OF GS!

Fourty-two is right across the hall from Lia, which makes it all the more surprising that they've never met. She's not that much of a shut-in, at least she doesn't believe she is. Maybe their schedules are just really different, she supposes it's an option. Or maybe he's just a big shut-in, another option, but Lia feels like it's a little wrong to make that assumption before they really know each other.
"Nice to meet you too, Rylan," she replies.
After that, there isn't much to talk about. Lia finds the silence a bit unnerving, even though she's still got the sounds of Tyronic quietly playing in her ear. It's not a comfortable silence, so she decides on the next best option: force a conversation. Though she knows how bad a forced conversation can be, she doesn't want to stand in silence until they get to their floor.
"So um, if you don't mind me asking... what's in the box?" she says, glancing towards the cardboard box he's holding in his arms.

So far so good, he supposed. Yes, if he wasn't a total loser he felt like a normal person would have liked meeting someone new, especially if they were nice. In a way, he did in fact enjoy it. He just wished he didn't absolutely suck at socializing, otherwise he was sure this would have gone much better. But for what it was worth, he couldn't complain. Of course, it was probably a better idea not to risk jinxing it. The elevator went quiet after that, kind of making him wish elevator music was still a thing (in fact he actually liked said music). He was half tempted to take advantage of his forgotten music player. It wasn't as if it'd be rude at this point since she was listening through her own earbuds (to his stuff no less). The only real issue was fishing into his pocket to turn on the damned thing which was somewhat difficult while he was trying to balance the newly obtained gear. He was about to take that challenge though when Lia spoke up, breaking the awkward silence. He looked down to the box in question as if he'd forgotten it was there (how could he?) before shrugging, deciding it couldn't hurt to answer. If he didn't, with his luck someone would likely think he was doing something he shouldn't and the last thing he wanted was suspicious eyes following him. So, yes. It'd be much easier to just come clean. "Oh! Uh.." he trailed off for a moment as he listed the contents in his head. "Some computer tech, headphones.. A lot of electronic stuff really." he offered with a shrug. As well as some games and a new cord for his microphone but he figured some things were better left unsaid. He wasn't completely stupid nor did he think she was either. "Had money to blow and figured I could build a new computer to play games on." A little less smart but honestly, when have you ever heard of a man living alone not being into gaming? That or be a bachelor but he was far too shy for that sort of lifestyle. LAIKA OF GS!
