Lia lays on the floor of her apartment, pieces of paper and broken pencils scattered around her. Her writer's block has not let up and it's killing her slowly. She rolls onto her stomach and presses a cheek against the wooden floor, letting the coolness of the floor sink in. She stays like that for a moment, and then there's a knock at her door. With a yawn, she gets up from her spot on the floor and sluggishly makes her way to the door. She unlocks it and pulls open the door with another yawn before saying, "Yes?"DANTE FIERRO, i never said i'd give u a good starter lmao

Dante has a wide grin on his face and a cardboard box under an arm, one side of it resting against the wall to offset some of its weight while he raps on the door and waits, hopes Lia is in.
She's the first one he'd gone to for this - and not just because she's always buying his crap. This, he's sure she's gonna love. He's already excited to see how excited she'll be.
As soon as the door opens, he hitches the box up, fingers drumming against the bottom while he leans against the doorframe. "Have I got something for you."

Lia resists the urge to groan when she sees Dante on the other side of her door. Instead she smiles and prays to God that he'll give her strength to turn down whatever Dante has for her today because she knows that the Lord knows she can't afford whatever he's going to sell her. Then again, she takes one look at his face and realises that no amount of self-control is going to allow her to say no to him.
"And what exactly have you got for me today," she asks, attempting to sound interested.

People are a little wary, but it isn't like he's some crooked salesman trying to profit at anyone's expense. Maybe sometimes he sells for a little profit, but money's not his first priority, and Dante's friends always get a fair price.
He likes to consider Lia a friend.
"Lemme in and I'll show you." He shifts the heavy box in his arms.

At his request, Lia opens the door wider, gesturing for him to come in. Then she realises her apartment is a giant mess of blankets, pencils, papers and pillows. She figures he won't mind too much, after all he's not supposed to be staying here for too long.
Then she remembers she has a bunch of writing scattered all around her apartment. She tenses up at the thought of him picking up one of the pages and reading it, so after he enters, she closes the door behind him and starts to pick up the loose pieces of paper and stacks them into a pile.
She pauses for a moment before looking back at him, "Um, feel free to make yourself at home, I guess." Then she returns to her collecting.

Dante doesn't pay her discomfort or the mess any mind. He's made plenty worse in his own apartment. He sets the box on the coffee table as if it's something precious.
He pulls the typewriter out and gently places it beside the box, blowing on the keys to get the dust off. "1950s Remington." Dante tells her proudly, running a hand over the roller and grinning as he watches for her reaction. "I found it from when I fixed it up a while back." It's not the most practical for writing, but she seems kind of old school anyways, with all the handwritten loose leaf. A little late, he realizes it would be the polite thing to do to help her with that.
Picking up a sheet she missed, Dante straightens, scanning the words on the page before he even thinks of handing it to her.

Lia pauses her cleaning for a moment to watch Dante. She raises an eyebrow when he places the box on the table, wondering what he'll pull out.
She almost drops all the papers in her arms when he pulls out the typewriter.
It's a little dusty, a little old and hella outdated but it's beautiful. She thinks it might be a little cliche that she's actually interested in it, but to hell with what people think are cliche. She swears it's love at first sight and she just stares at it in awe for a while. That is, until she realises that Dante has picked up a piece of writing she missed and she jumps in his direction, trying to grab the sheet.
"DON'T READ THAT," she yells, a bit embarrassed.

The expression on her face is perfect, exactly what he'd hoped for when he lugged the box down to her apartment. He watches with a satisfied grin before glancing back to the page. Two words in, she's making a grab for it, and Dante just barely manages to sidestep her.
She's embarrassed, but he's curious. "Why not? You're a writer, right? Someone's gotta read it eventually."

He sidesteps her and she stumbles a few steps before she's able to regain her balance. He still has the page, is probably going to read it, and she's going to melt into a puddle of embarrassment. "Eventually, is usually after I send it through spellcheck and grammar fixing or whatever it's called," she says. "Not straight from the page I've written it on, do you know how bad that's going to be? Insanely."
But grammar and spelling are actually the last things on her mind. She cares more about the lack of flow, and the choppiness of the writing, the overused cliches and lack of imagery, the inactivity of her scenes and the lack of personality with her characters. She's more worried about the actual story aspects, rather than the practical aspects.
